Farm School

Wednesdays 10 am - 2:30 pm

Located at a horse farm in Hillsboro

Students will be outdoors all day with access to covered buildings for some shelter from the elements. Programming is available to children ages 5 - 11 years old.

AN ATMOSPHERE THAT IS UNHURRIED, FREE, AND FULL.

Acorn Adventure Group

Ages 5 & 6

Children learn in a natural environment through curiosity, play and discovery. Children will be exposed to horses, goats, barn cats, guardian dogs, chickens and whatever wild animals the 100+ acres, creeks and lakes have to offer.  We will be focusing on social emotional skills as well as motor skills as well as adapting to the thought process that there is no such thing as bad weather, which allows us to become resilient and confident together. There will be a daily read aloud with tea time, and students will be exposed to a feast of poetry and living books.

Sapling Adventure Group

Ages 7 & 8

Children automatically become hands-on in nature. It provokes children into thought, action, and formulating their own ideas. When they are involved in experiences with nature, they are absorbed and completely attentive to what is at hand. We seek to support them in this by providing natural environments to explore and adding tools to enhance explorations because when children connect with nature and develop their own personal relationship with it, the relationship will carry meaning into their understanding of nature and ultimately, it's creator.

Oaks Adventure Group

Ages 9-11

Problem-solving, critical thinking, creativity, people management and coordinating with others has been listed as the top five skills needed in life. Our goal is to help our students gain those skills and many more through a focus on care of person, care of environment and social relations. We believe self worth comes from successfully accomplishing meaningful tasks, so we aim to equip our students with opportunities to gain skills and ultimately a greater confidence in themselves and their capabilities. This exposure to the real world will help feed their need for meaning and purpose, allowing them to be curious about who God created them to be.

What if my child is 12+?

While our current programming goes through age 11, we do have hopes to offer a peaceful learning environment for our students to do independent study at the farm once they age out. We are launching a beta version of this program Fall 2025 so please inquire if you are interested in learning more.

Community

The goal of this program is to support the whole family and not the student alone, so community is a space we are really intentional about. There are family social events, nature meet-ups, mother culture nights, a summer book club, opportunities to serve together and more!
